vacation time

looking forward to riding the train to seattle to visit with my beautiful sister and neice. visiting seattle is fantastic; i love this emerald city. can't wait to window shop and stroll arm in arm with belkis. if i can keep up with her- she's a speed walker even uphill. plan on going to at least one lys and i think it will be the tricoter. perhaps we'll be able to go salsa dancing:)
whatever we do we will definitely have fun and laugh a great deal. we can practically read each other's minds. i have 1/3 of the branching scarf done and tomorrow i will be starting remains of the day for knit the classics; will want to pick out a new pattern to knit too. so much to do, so little time.

after much vexing i made a few rows of the branching out scarf & i am so happy that with a little persistence and a change in fiber and size of needle that i will be able to finish this scarf. i am delighted. my next one will be of finer fiber. i've been spurcing up the abode. flowers every pay day; a cake to eat with tea... these are a few my favorite things. can't wait to see a very long engagement; the actress from amelie and the director from same have worked their magic on this new film and i've waited a whole year to see it! such happiness.

good thing to remember when you are having "one of those days." it's befitting to accept responsibilities for creating our own situations and agitations thinking that someone else has created "it" for us. i have learned a valuable lesson about self-deception and that i should never, ever feel uncomforable and not do something straight away!! value myself so i can value others. good lesson to have experienced.

it's a swinging day!

have you ever had one of those days when you've realized you can do anything you set your mind to do? i have them often but, the feeling goes as quickly as it comes. i thought if i can keep myself focused i can do what i want. in lieu of this mental trap i have knitted and ripped out the branching out scarf 10 times. it's not the pattern it's me! i get scattered brain; i am determined to do this scarf! as for the rest of my life- i have also determined to not let others discourage me. i had resolved to evolve a long time ago; with that decision i opened pandora's box... yikes! to bad life doesn't come with a fix-it-up manual :)

TGIF- looking forward to a good wkend

what a day! got my bike today; i'm so happy.
what a sense of freedom. rode to the bike shop to look for a lock and possibly brace for baskets. i could see the flowers, smell the fresh air; got baked by the sun. found a knitting pattern a day calendar with some great, quick gift ideas. my sis is coming! yipee, seattle here i come. i hope that i can find a way to gift the generosity of the sweet lady who gave me my blue bike. it's the most awesome thing i have ever received. i must do something fantastic and surprise her. hmmmm

burlington outing

had a great early day; did the chores, showered and ran for the bus. went to the mall for hair products and looked at shoes. cute or practical? i moved on. then my lovely daughter came by with bella and we went to burlington mall where i treated my self to hello kitty stuff and see's lollies. love the see's. they are sponsoring the king tut tour that is going around the country to different museums. to commemorate king tut they have chocalates boxes embossed with a beautiful gold, turquoise and coral photo of him. knitted several rows on the cherry red, altered halter. have the bottom skirt, right breast side done and am 8 rows into the left breast side. just the back; i think i want to do a corset feel to the back. must start the branching out scarf for knit the classics and find wives & daughters to read. will be finishing & blocking my pink & purple stripe purse this wkend. it feels so good to accomplish so much in one day. also, the opportunity to go from idea to product really motivates me.

initials. now to finish my halter and purse. must start on a knit-along for knit the classics. plan on doing the branching out scarf from knitty. sooner or later i must start the corset for another knit-along. so happy to be making such great stuff and learning new ideas on playing with fiber. on another note i am so tempted to save to go to costa rica. having finished travel school several years ago i thought that doing an ecotour is real living. must do that before i die. speaking of travel, my daughter and niece are going to miami and the keys in style. last i saw the keys was a million years ago after i graduated from high school. oh, how i'd love to go somewhere! soon, soon... ciao

ahhh, lynden baskets

at the beginning of every summer in the little surrounding towns of ferndale & lynden business owners purchase these huge baskets of aromatic flowers. they hang on every street light fixutre downtown. when you go by the scent is quite seductive.
i think it's a very generous gesture of these business people to make their quaint by-ways a pleasant and pleasurable experinece for visitors to enjoy.

great painters have painted the same object over & over; different lighting, different time of year until they had all these perfect perspectives of one object. hence, another shot of the still life of dahlias.

my grandson and his daddy

we call him "bugga" cuz he loves to go outside looking for bugs and slugs.
when he went to costa rica with his dad he was so excited about the monkeys around grandpa's house. he's a sweet and very intelligent little boy with the vocabulary of a six year old. (he's only 3)

one of my recent needs for cool nights was a warm shawl. i found that homespun by lion yarn works for the really cool nights that are coming back! i've been so forunate as people at work have been so supportive in different ways. am on my way to reinstating travel funds and i will be the proud owner of a bike that glides lightly. aren't bikes the best? i can imagine how well bikes climaxed into modern culture as a means to be free. it's an adventure on wheels. can't wait to have some time to ride around town!
